Cheryl's Thoughts!!!

I am honored to be helping Deb with the important task of building a strong, statewide network for home educators in Alabama and serving as moderator for the South Alabama Nring. I am located Satsuma, a suburb of Mobile, and have been home educating in the state since 2001. We have been home educating for 16 years total and have lived in KY, TN, IN, IL, NC. We have 7 children and have successfully graduated 2 children into college and independent living. It is my pleasure to serve the Alabama home education community and look forward to contributing to the Great Conversation.

Wiregrass Teen Scene - To partner with enterprise homeschoolers and teen scene to foster growth and fellowship among families and teens involved in Everest Academy or other school covers. Hopefully, together we can plan plenty of fun and learning opportunities for our kids throughout each school year, not to mention provide support for each other! Involvement in the Enterprise area teen scene group will keep good old fashioned socializing in gear for our teens, while the Wiregrass Teen Scene group will focus on field trips to enhance that socialization experience AND educational opportunities. Field Trips being considered for our teens include: the Seacrest Wolf Preserve; Marianna Caverns/Camping, Joe Todd Cane Syrup Farm, Art Days at Wirgrass Museum of Art; A Visit to Karl's German Bakery; A local dairy; various plays; fishing at Lake Eufaula or Lake Tholocco, etc.... Open for suggestions.
